Together with two friends of mine from Switzerland, E. and J., I visited the city of Regensburg which is a 90min-train-ride from Munich away. I enjoyed our saturday in Regensburg a lot, it’s such a nice city! It reminded me a bit of Basel because of the water (Donau), the old city parts and its nice size (not too big and not too small, just right ;-)).
It took us 3 hours to get there and 3 hours to get home … but it was worth it … cool place to be King Ludwig II 8). Here some background info for those interested.

I enjoyed the Christmas markets around Munich city. There are so many different markets: Marienplatz (see picture below), Rindermarkt, Residenz, Wittelsbacherplatz, Weissenburgerplatz …
„Samichlaus Trichlä“ is an old custom celebrated in the central part of Switzerland (here a link if you want to know more). It’s always around 6. December, either the saturday after or before this date. Here some swiss-german language skills:
„Samichlaus“: Swiss Santa Claus, which visits the children on 6. December.
„Trichlä“: word for cowbell, sounds great if it is played in the same rythm by hundreds of people.
Unfortunately I don’t have any picture from the event itself, but from the nice scenery around the lake of lucerne in Central Switzerland.
