On sunday, the second day of visit, the four of us headed off early in the morning to the English Garden for the „Monopteros-Lauf„. This running event is used as training event for participants of the Munich Marathon which takes place in mid-October. The 14km through the English Garden were very idyllic and it was a lot of fun taking part.
After lunch, we set off towards the „Oktoberfest“ in Munich city. On our way to the „Theresienwiese“ we passed by St. Paul church where we spontaneously decided to climb up the approx. 250 stairs to get a view from the steeple. The view up there was amazing! I enjoyed the 360° view over Munich (somehow), but I was very glad when we arrived safe again back on the ground. When we finally arrived at the „Theresienwiese“, we strolled through the fairground with many different market stalls and „Bierzelte“. The „Oktoberfest“ remembered me a lot of the „Herbstmesse“ in Basel: a lot of different food, a lot of sweets („Krachmandlä“, „Magäbroot“, and even something which looked like „Beggeschmütz“) and many funfair rides. However, there were definitely also many passed out drunks around. Still, all together I must admit that I was surprised in a positive sense from the „Oktoberfest“.
In the evening, my friends headed off back towards Zurich. It was a great weekend … thanks again to all of you for giving me such a good time!
