On the weekend, my dear friends from Zurich – D., S. and S. – paid me a visit in Munich. It was great seeing you and having you here! Saturday was sightseeing-day. First thing todo on our plan was the outdoor swimming pool in Haar ;-). After that we took the train and tram to go to Munich downtown. On our way there, we admired a nice fountain at „Ostbahnhof“. Later, we crossed the Isar before we arrived at the „Max-Joseph-Platz“ with the „Nationaltheater“ and the „Bayerische Staatsoper“. From there we walked to the „Odeonsplatz“ and the impressive „Theatinerkirche“ (church).
After we had examined the church from out- and inside, we went towards the „Marienplatz“. On our way there, we took a detour through the „Dallmayr“ fine food shop. Oh, what a great place! So many nice things … from bread (even BUTTERZOPF!), to chocolate and pralinés, to special alcohol (like the nice sweet italian liquor LIMONCELLO), to many other delicious things. Then, we went to have a look at the more famous landmarks of Munich, like the „Rathaus“ at the „Marienplatz“and the Viktualienmarkt. We also strolled along „Kaufingerstrasse“ towards „Karlsplatz“ (Stachus).
The energy we had lost during the day, walking from one place to the other, we regained at Woerner’s with coffee and cake. We completed the day with beer (and sparkling water ;-)) in a traditional Munich restaurant, the „Augustiner am Platzl“.
